How we handle weather closures.

Watch your email by 7:00 AM on storm mornings — that’s where the call goes out. For afternoon-storm decisions, watch voicemail and email.

LPC follows Lexington Public Schools (LPS) for weather decisions on the first day of a storm. After that, we make our own call based on conditions and staffing.

• If LPS closes due to snow, LPC closes as well — but only for the first day of the storm.
• If LPS delays opening, LPC opens at 9:00 AM.
• If LPS dismisses early, LPC makes its own plan for the afternoon based on conditions.

A note on closures. We don’t auto-close just because LPS does. Many Lexington families have two working parents, and a snow-closed preschool cascades into cancelled meetings and scrambled childcare. If our teachers can safely get to the building and the classrooms are ready, we open. Most storms, we’re open.
